I'm a debatable gentleman and endurance sport activist living in Los Angeles. Here, we'll talk about the second of those two things...

Panama Wrap…

Some of the pictures of the day, most courtesy of Gregory B. Smith. I was able to pick up a ticket to the Vegas 70.3 World Champs at rolldown, which makes me feel like something tangible was accomplished here today. It’s certainly nice to get it out of the way. Also included - my brutalized feet and tire. They are two things I’ll certainly recall when thinking back on this one. It was one of my toughest so far, and I’ll hang my hat on that for now.

Most of the weekend here was the Lance Armstrong show. The buzz was something to see and be a part of. Not that I need to comment, but anyone who follows triathlon knows there’s been quite a swell of negative backlash against his Ironman aspirations. I don’t get it. I will say this though - I’m not sure I’ve ever seen someone with such a frigid disposition. Maybe that’s part of the fascination - maybe because every step he takes feels like a fuck off to the world — like he’s so over or above it all. It was hugely fascinating to me — maybe that’s what happens to someone that’s been through as much as he has. Maybe he’s just a prick and doesn’t care anymore. All I know is that I didn’t want to go near him. Big love and respect - I’ve written about him on here with praise in the past and likely always will. He’s a symbol, something that represents greatness and dedication and determination. To others, with or without proof, he’ll always be a cheater. The resume is just too good for me to see anything but what I see.
